Thank you to all that were in attendance last week
Our visitors were Janette and Harma, great to have you visit again ladies
Our Exchange student Ossi, gave us an update on his excursion to Port Hacking organised by his school and his visit to Sydney
Past President Ross, gave a short but detailed “ This is My Life” and after prompting with questions about his considerable involvement in cricket, gave us his view on the weeks cricket fiasco
Plans were finalised for the planting of our Rotary Tree in Kitchener Park. This tree was donated by Hunter Valley Gardens, will be planted by Cessnock City Council . The Claret Ash will be a memorial to David Clark. Hopefully this will be in place before Earth Day and will be the beginning of further plantings in keeping with Rotary Internationals challenge for all Rotary members around the world to plant a tree . Thank you to Lyall Green from Cessnock Council and Sean Obrien from Hunter Valley Gardens.
On 19th April , we have Susan Rynberk from the District YEP committee speaking to us about Youth Exchange. As you know we have agreed to continue our clubs’ involvement in the Program and we are seeking Host Parents. Please bring along anyone you might know, who may be interested.
May 31, is the 5th Thursday in the month and I propose that we have a BBQ at Kitchener Park,
in place of dinner at the club. This will be a partners and friends night . BYO drinks and $10pp
RSVP to Graham Lidbury by   24th May please for catering purposes.
Hope to see you all this week

This is My Life by Ross Lidbury
Past President Ross Lidbury gave  us an excellent presentation  “This is My Life”
With typical understatement, Ross gave an interesting and entertaining insight into the stages of his life from growing up  through his early work history , marriage and children and on to his journey through higher education to his present Doctorate.
He also gave us  a detailed picture of his involvement and association with Rotary and some  interesting  insights into his involvement with cricket and some comments on the present problems in the game. e caption here
