RAWCS AT WORK IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) assists Rotary Clubs in Australia with the development and management of international community service projects.
Whether it's projects to help rebuild in the aftermath of disaster, programs to bring education to countries where illiteracy stifles development or bringing health care and medical aid to those who can least access it,
RAWCS so often has a hand in helping the world stand on its feet. RAWCS supports Rotary Clubs in sending teams of volunteers to developing countries to provide assistance upon the development of much needed facilities, especially within the health and education areas. RAWCS is an Australian based program, run by people like you and me. Everyday people volunteer their time as Rotarians and Friends of Rotary to make each RAWCS project happen.
The contributions of everyday people just like yourself, along with fundraising and donations from Rotarians, corporate partners and other members of the public, enable these projects to go ahead.
Of course with Rotarians being community-service minded individuals who volunteer their time, donors can be assured that contributions made to RAWCS go directly to helping communities around the world.
RAWCS EASTERN REGION NSW
The Rotary Club of Cessnock, NSW (D9670) has been providing professional aid and development to the teachers and communities since July 2009 in small mountain villages dotted along the northern end of  Kokoda Trail. These include the Kokoda Village, Kagi, Aloloa, Felae and Eiwo. All are difficult to reach because of the notoriously rugged highland terrain and very wet climate.
Working with the R/C Port Moresby, the Club has sent much needed school supplies in 20’ containers to many schools in the Oro Province in an attempt to replenish stocks lost in the devastating Cyclone Guba. In addition the y are currently researching the needs of schools in isolated the Garua River
region. Trish Davies conducts teacher workshops and she is always trying to new volunteer teachers, finances for the development and maintenance of resources and sponsorship of freight. If you can assist with either stocks, finance or  training, then please get in touch with Trish. Her details are
